TWO TRIPS, JUST ONE DREAM

The beginning of a dream, the beginning of a desire...
Welcome to Las Lajas !
Hi! We are Erika and Fabio, two italian guys from Genoa. It’s since 2006 that we are imagining a country with tropical climate, in which is still possible to realize the dream of living an essentially different life, better than the one we live in Italy, a life that we don’t like anymore and don’t offers great horizons for the future. Not to be boring, we doesn’t talk about this long topic "Italy", so we start telling our short story, perhaps returning to the track on this site tomorrow. So, until now, whenever we were able to, we get a backpack and went to distant lands in search of a possible paradise that can host us.
As soon as possible, we choose a destination, make a travel itinerary, reserve a flight and without too many problems and several reservations, we just go! This has been happening regularly for some years, when we had the pleasure to visit beautiful countries in Europe such as Spain and Canary Islands, Austria, France and Greece with its islands that seems like pearls, and other countries, such as Egypt, Cuba, Mexico, New York City in the United States and Thailand, all beautiful places, all unforgettable trips. They grew inside us a big desire to change air. It was not long before leaving for Bangkok, destination Thailand, that We read online a lot of new infos about the Republic of Panama. We didn’t know, but this would have brought a great change to us in a little time. So, on February 2009, our new journey, our new destination was Panama! Yes, because reading for hours and days on line, we began to discover a country, a place that we have never thought about or considered. And it was a cool discovery! We realized that Panama could be the country that we were looking for. This basically for its political and economic stability, climate, legal and bureaucratic reasons.
Leaving from Genoa to Paris and after staying a few days in New York, we finally reached Panama City in a very hot panamanian summer night. There’s no need to say that the atmosphere of the capital was haunting our minds, perhaps by a subconscious suggestion that told us "This is the good time, it’s the right choice, this is the right place ..."
The next day we went to David, capital of Chiriqui, where we left with a bus to Las Lajas, a small town located close to one of the most beautiful beaches on the Pacific coast. It was during the days spent there, that started a miracle, the beginning of our greatest wish: buying a piece of land that would soon become our own “La Pepita de Marañon”, name due to the presence of two small trees in it, two nuts (those trees that provide big red fruit, which have a strange shell at the end which contains a cashew).
The first sight between us and “La Pepita” was like a stroke of lightning and was almost instantaneous. Its strategic location on the main road to Las Lajas and especially its wonderful panoramic view of the Cordillera Central (which divides the provinces of Chiriqui and Bocas del Toro), captured our hearts in a few seconds, and gave us a feeling of being in the middle of a pasture in Switzerland and not few miles from a Pacific tropical beach!
So this are the pages of our little story ... we are already hoping to write many others too with the help of you who would enjoy La Pepita de Marañon!
